The sweet burn of home ownership.

It has been a while since we last posted, and It is not because we’ve been sitting on a beach relaxing. Sadly we have been cleaning up water here and at the house Q grew up in.

In the last 30 years the house Q grew up in never experienced any flooding, but this spring our area broke the record of rain-fall set in 1863, and after this storm had roughly 4″ of water. While our basement has had some minor water issues in the past, we went from dry to 4″-6″ of water in less then 5 hours. Once both homes were cleaned up, we began to re-visit our basement plans.

With the resolve to use this space, Q has devised a plan involving 1-2 sump pumps, a french drain system and other fancy steps to ensure our basement is dry. More will come later!
